Hello
Everyone,
It is celebration time, time to celebrate successful
cricket season. Please bring your family and friends to finals on Sunday Sep 9,
2007 to watch a wonderful game of cricket. Let us make this event like Superbowl
event, competition plus celebration. Every captain, vice captain, neutral
umpires, players and members of board worked very hard this year. Let us
celebrate this during cricket finals. We will have snacks and refreshments
including samosa and bread bonda. Match will be played at Parkers place. This
place has beautiful lake, playfields, walking and biking trails.
As the
engrossing One Day series between India and England
is poised for a thrilling finish, an equally enchanting tournament in
Minneapolis Hard Tennis Ball Tournament has blossomed blissfully and is heading
towards an interesting culmination.
It has been fun-filled and at the
same time energy-sapping four month event in which a record 20 teams
participated this year. There were a few teams that came close to make it to the
final four, but ultimately the teams that showed perseverance and consistency
made it to the Semi-finals. The very fact that one of the cup semi-finals
resulted in a tie and is going to be played again shows the level of intensity
and seriousness put in by the teams to make this tournament a quality event
worth remembering for ages to come.

ROUTE TO
FINALS:
CUP: SOC Vs (VICTORS or IND
XI)
SOC was the finalist last year as well and showed
tremendous consistency in their quest towards finals. They had brief jolts on
the way from Master Blasters and Gladiators but otherwise sailed in pretty
smoothly into the Finals and starts off as hot favorite, irrespective of which
team qualifies for the second spot in the finals. The other two teams fighting
for the finals spot had an interestingly contrast ways of reaching the semis.
Victors had a couple of hiccups earlier on, but afterwards, they showed
consistency to reach the semis with some drama and spice added for the final
match that they had to play for qualifying for the Semis. Indian XI started well
before losing to SOC in the league phase early into the tournament. They face an
equally strong team in the form of Victors for the second time in semi
fianls after the first semis clash between Indian XI and Victors was pulsating
to say the least and ended in a tie, the first time anything like that happened
in the tournament history. This match will be played again on Saturday,
09/08/2007 to decide SOC's opponent in the CUP finals for 2007.
PLATE: BHAILOG
Vs REBELS
Bhailog missed qualifying for the CUP
narrowly but had their PLATE pursuit well on track. They breezed past Cheers XI
in the Semis and start off as favorites in this PLATE final. Rebels have been
the most impressive debutants this year next only to Master Blasters. They were
the Nemesis of Bombay Boys in the league as well as Plate Semis winning by the
closest margin possible of 1 run on both the occasions. They however lost their
second round match to Bhailog and would be eager to produce a different result
this time around.
Both the finals (CUP & PLATE) will be
held at 9 AM on Sunday, 09/09/2007 at Parker's park. The felicitation ceremony
will be conducted after the games. We request all cricket enthusiasts who have a
penchant for "LIVE CRICKET" to come by and watch the finals. Refreshments will
be provided to keep the energy levels up through out the match duration.
